WHY FILM?
I love using film because of the way it captures light and color, it's unlike any other medium out there. I'm able to create ethereal, dreamy photographs with a light and airy look with the perfect amount of contrast, depth and grain. It also creates the smoothest skin tones to make your skin look incredibly soft, almost like a painting. Film requires a much more methodical way of shooting, and I'm so much more intentional with each frame. I love that film is a true art form, requiring skill and perfecting the shot prior to pressing the shutter. In a digital age, it's a nostalgic quality that comes through my work.
DO YOU SHOOT WITH DIGITAL TOO?
I truly believe there is a time and place for both mediums, film and digital, and for this reason I shoot both. On a wedding day, the lighting situations will vary drastically from one location to the next. When natural light is abundant and the setting is beautiful, you can guarantee I'll be working with film. When there is less natural light available, or a low lighting situation arises, digital is best because there is much more flexibility with the settings to still create beautiful images. Receptions almost always require digital photography because of dim lighting and moving subjects. Both are required to capture your wedding day fully and we are always prepared with both mediums to give you the best quality images possible.
DO YOU HAVE A SECOND SHOOTER FOR WEDDINGS?
All of my wedding collections include two photographers. My second shooter is very valuable in times where the bride and groom get ready at different locations, he/she can also help with gear, film loading, and working to get those different perspective shots during a ceremony or reception! I think it's always great to have two sets of eyes on the room at all times so that no important moments are missed!
